Gorse bush stick , handle is a pice of an antler from a fallow dear, the bushing is piece of a pelvic bone from a cow.

Two heavy blackthorn sticks, harvested on Helletofte Strand in 2019.

Coated with French polish.

 

Heavy stick made of hazelnut wood, the handle is a piece of antler from a stag hunted down in Scotland in 2018.

 

Description:

Heavy hazelnut stick.

Handle a piece of pelvic bone from a cow, the hollow bone has been filled up with hare glue , Pistachios shells and hazel nut shells.

The materiel for the next 3 sticks , will be Shillagh type , from Blackthorn , heavy wood.

Harvested on Helletofte Beach ( Langeland DK ) on the 28 of September 2021.

Now the sticks will be dried for some month before completion and coating applied ( Shellack 20 coats ).

Bone glue applied to the saw cutting in order to avoid cracking whilst drying.

Debarked ready for sanding.

After sanding.

Now to be dried completely before applying the the French Polish.

Now coated with French polish, 04 November 2021.

Now fitted with a rosary from a fallow deer, ex Helletofte Langeland DK.

A Harry Lauder alike stick.

Handle made of sheep horn ex Fuglafjørður.

Copper pipe bush attached between the sheep horn and the stick.

Glued with P/U glue.

A Turks knot fitted.

All coated with 15 layers of French polish.

The stick sold August 2023 to a customer in Fuglafjørður on Faroe Island

The latest stick , made of a gorse stick , the handle is a shinbone from a fellow dear , a braided Turk knot below the handle.

All coated with 15 coats of shellack.

A commission made stick.

Fittet with Turk knots and seal hide.

The stick and the Turk knots applied with 15 coats of shellack.

A gold jubiliee gift for friend. The stick now resides in a home where a walking stick became handy.

The spine from a simliar fish used for this walking stick.

The shovelnose guitarfish is a relatively small-bodied ray.

Shovelnose Ray in Black Bean Sauce Recipe

Ingredients (serves 3-4)
350g shovelnose ray fillet, cut into bite sized chunks
3 slices ginger, cut into thin strips
1/2 tbsp dried fermented black beans, wash & bruise
1 cup water
vegetable oil
3 stalks spring onion, cut into 1″ sections
1 red chilli, deseed & slice

Seasonings:
1 tsp dark soy sauce
1 tbsp oyster sauce
1/2 tbsp light soy sauce
1/2 tsp chicken seasoning powder
dash of white pepper
dash of chinese cooking wine
